My daughters, now 10 and 12, started taking art classes from Anke when they were 5 years old and they can't get enough of the classes - they love them and Anke! Anke starts each class with a formal art lesson and then allows the children to explore the lesson as they see it. She gives guidance when asked and encourages each child in developing their own style.

Anke Hass Artwork is an art gallery only on the web. Owner and artist Anke Hass is primarily a teaching artist-in-residence in the Truckee and Tahoe Community. She serves Arts for the Schools, a local non-profit advocate for the arts. During the summer and winter season she is also an artist in residence for Martis Camp, a renowned golf resort in Truckee.
The Sierra College, Truckee Donner Park and Recreation District hire her as a creative instructor for community education purposes. Besides teaching visual arts her own work focus is on oils and pencils. Her educational background is Communication and Design. After having earned her degree at Bergische University, Germany, she immigrated to the US and started her art career in Truckee in 1997.

Our kids have loved being in Anke’s summer art classes over the years – so what a perfect fit for Anke to paint our kids for a surprise Mother’s Day gift. Anke helped us work out and develop a wonder setting and layout for the painting. Anke integrated Donner Lake as the background – a location where we spend a lot of family time – with a touch of fall color. Anke is a thoughtful and patient artist, and it was great for the kids to be able to be involved with the process – from photo shoots, review of draft layout, and reviews of work in progress. We love the painting. Thank you Anke!

As a surprise for my husband's birthday, I selected three of my favorite artists to each paint one of our three dogs. Anke was selected to paint Miss Lily. The painting not only captured Lily's personality, Anke also incorporated Tom's passion for woodworking into the overall concept. Thank you Anke. You've created something we will always cherish.
