1) Dui / Risk Reduction

Risk Reduction Classes (otherwise known as D.U.I. classes) are required by the State of Georgia for a drug or alcohol charges. It is a 20-hour class. We offer classes every other weekend and sometime, consecutive weekends. For the current schedule, please call during office hours (Mon-Fri 10am-5pm).

The DUI class begins on Friday evenings from 6pm-10pm (day 1), continuing Saturday from 8am-5pm (day 2), and Sunday from 8:00am-5:00pm (day 3). A certificate of completion is given at the end of the 3rd day. Each Saturday and Sunday class has a lunch break from 12:00pm-1:00pm. A person must attend all sessions without missing any or being late. State requirements prohibit ALL Certified Driving Schools from admitting late students. However, in the case someone might be late or cannot attend the class for which they registered, the classcan be rescheduled without the client paying again. Please ask for details because certain requirements apply.

An evaluation (Assessment) must be completed prior to starting the class. The results of this Assessment are used during the class. This is the first step to sign a student up for the class. The Assessment takes about thirty (30) minutes to complete. No appointment is necessary- you can walk in Monday - Friday between 10 am and 5 pm. If those hours don't work for you, we can meet with you at your convenience by appointment. Just call us.

The fee for this class is set by the State at $355.00 and is the same state-wide. This cost includes the Assessment (sign-up questionnaire), book, and class. The Assessment (sign-up questionnaire) must be completed BY 3 pm on the Friday class starts, and the full fee must be paid by then as well to start the class. However, a person can sign up as far in advance as they wish, and doing so helps split up payment of the fee. At least $100.00 is due on the date of the Assessment. We accept cash, money order, Visa and Mastercard. We are sorry, we cannot accept checks. Please call us for more information or if we can help you!
Georgia Certification # 9420.

2) Defensive Driving

The Defensive Driving (commonly called Driver Improvement) Course is designed to teach Georgia drivers how to drive safely and responsibly by reviewing the basic rules of the road while covering many important Georgia highway & safety laws. Per Georgia law, all State Defensive Driving classes must be delivered in person at an approved instruction site by a professional instructor and last a total of 6 hours. The 6 Hour Program is offered in a 1 day class or in 2 evening classes. One day classes are on Saturdays from 8:30 am-3:30 pm. The evening classes are 2 consecutive evenings- usually a Wednesday and Thursday- from 5:30 pm-8:30 pm. Cost for the class is $95.00 unless it is being done for Insurance Reduction only. If you are taking the class for insurance purposes only the cost is $35.00, but to qualify for this price and the reduction in insurance, the client must not have any violations (or pending violations) on his/her driving record for a specific amount of time. Please call for details. GA License #987.

Reasons to Take a Defensive Driving Class:

Insurance Premium Discount
Certain insurance companies, by law, allow their clients who have good driving records to receive 10% - 15% discount for up to 3 years on their yearly Insurance Premium if they complete a Defensive Driving Course. Please check with your insurance provider to make sure you qualify for the discount.

Point Reduction
Georgia allows residents to remove points from their driving records once every 5 years. Georgia allows up to 7 points to be removed from your driving record once you submit your original Certificate of Completion to the Department of Driver Services. The actual offense will remain on the report, but the points from that offense will be removed after you turn in all the appropriate paperwork.

Ticket Dismissal / Court Order
If you have received a traffic ticket, speeding ticket, or other citation in Georgia, some courts may require you to attend a Defensive Driving class and turn in proof to that court. If you take a class before the court date, the court may not turn in points to Driver Services if you ask the judge to consider it. Many judges in the state of Georgia will dismiss a ticket for a moving violation if the offender completes the 6 hour defensive driving course prior to the court date. If approved by a judge, the dismissed ticket will not reflect on the driver's record with the state. If the ticket cannot be dismissed, the court may allow an offender to complete the course and subsequently reduce the fines by 20% and have no points assessed toward the driver's record.

Suspension & Reinstatement
If your license has been suspended or revoked, you can take the Defensive Driving Course and pay the reinstatement fees to get your driver's license back. If you are under 21 years of age and have received just one moving violation that resulted in 4 or more points being added to your driving record, you might lose your license for a six month period. Completion of this class is required to get licenses reinstated. NOTE: The reinstatement and/or associated fees are paid directly to Department of Driver's Services.

3) Clinical Evaluations For Alcohol/substance Abuse

As of July 1, 2008, the State of Georgia passed a law that requires all First-time DUI offenders to complete a Drug and Alcohol Clinical Evaluation. This is a separate service than the DUI class and requires a separate charge of $95.00 (the minimum fee set by the State of Georgia). it is a standard requirement that is usually enforced, for 1st offenders, by Probation Services. DUI offenders with a second DUI within a five year period before June 30, 2008 are required, as a condition of license reinstatement, to receive an Alcohol and Drug Clinical Evaluation. If indicated by the Evaluation, the DUI offender is also required to complete a substance abuse treatment program.

So just what IS a Clinical Evaluation? It is a personal meeting between the client and the evaluator to discuss the client's current situation, past history, and other information. The purpose of the evaluation is to determine whether further substance abuse counseling is recommended. Once the Evaluation is complete, the evaluator will make one of two recommendations: Either no further treatment is needed, or a specific number of classes will be recommended. If classes are recommended, the DUI offender is also required to complete the recommended number of classes in order to qualify for reinstatement of a license or a work permit.

Clients are not referred to further treatment/classes if it is not warranted or ordered. The Clinical Evaluation is conducted by a Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) approved, licensed, certified professional who is certified in the field of addiction. Our Evaluations are accepted by courts, probation, and the Georgia Department of Driver's Services for license reinstatement. Since the evaluator we use is based in Atlanta and is not part of our counseling program, you are guaranteed a fair and unbiased Evaluation.
Please note that if you have a driver's license issue, some Evaluations/Providers are NOT accepted by the Georgia Department of Driver's Services. Therefore, if you have a driver's license issue, be certain that the Evaluator is certified and approved by Georgia DDS.

We realize the high cost of a DUI, so we try to keep our prices as low as possible. We will treat you with courtesy, and we will respect your privacy. The State of Georgia has set a minimum fee of $95.00 for all Evaluations in the state of Georgia. The $95.00 fee must be paid in cash. This is because the Evaluator is an independent, unbiased professional and performs this service for many driving schools throughout the state and is not an employee of our driving school. Therefore, we must turn over all monies collected directly to the Evaluator.

A person can make an appointment for an Evaluation by coming in to the office during office hours with the $95.00 payment, proof of identification, and signing a release to have the previous DUI school records sent to the Evaluator. If the client has not attended DUI school first, a copy of either a court or probation order is necessary.

Evaluations at this location are done on Sundays only. The deadline to register and pay for a Sunday Evaluation is by 4:30 pm the Friday before. Advance payment and paperwork are required because the evaluator drives from Atlanta and has to be assured he has an appointment.

Each Evaluation takes approximately 30 minutes.

4) Counseling / Treatment

Counseling consists of attendance and participation in the type of program recommended by your Clinical Evaluator. Level 1 Treatment is a short term treatment (usually between 6-12 weeks). Multiple Offenders (those with more than 1 DUI in 10 years) must have at least 3 hours of treatment each week and MUST participate in treatment for a MINIMUM of 120 days (17 consecutive weeks.)

After a client enrolls in treatment, DUI offenders who are eligible for a work driver's permit will receive a Verification of Treatment Enrollment Form so that the client can get the permit. If the client who was issued a Treatment Enrollment form drops out of treatment, or is dismissed from treatment, a Withdrawal / Dismissal letter will formally document dismissal from treatment. A copy of the letter will be forwarded from DBHDD to the Department of Drivers Services (DDS). In the event the client has been issued a temporary driving permit, the permit may be revoked by DDS.

We offer weekly group sessions on Sundays from 5:30pm-8:30pm, and each session costs $50.00. A $20 drug screen fee is charged on the first class and the last class, and each client is expected to pass the final drug screen. Our education-based classes focus on relapse prevention, recovery, self-knowledge, and support group involvement. All substance abuse groups are open-ended, meaning that new clients can enter an ongoing group at any time. Each group session will usually have new clients as well as some finishing the program. When the client has completed all treatment and program requirements, the client will be issued either a letter confirming completion or a Treatment Completion Certificate.

We understand that change is hard. And we know that people want to be happy and successful and feel good about themselves. We know that education and information is not enough to create change for most people. That's why we do it differently. We work by building the person up instead of tearing them down. We believe life does a good job of tearing us down already. Our treatment gives the tools needed to increase self esteem and strengthen determination so the client can stay on track more easily and focus less on drugs and alcohol.

Studies show that people who have a problem with alcohol or drugs relapse several times before they succeed. Each time a person tries, but fails, they become more discouraged, and soon they come to believe that they are weak or that they can't accomplish their goal. Don't you believe it!
