The special people who deliver our unique brand of in-home senior care (We call them Comfort Keepers®.) are carefully selected, screened, and trained to provide professional, compassionate care. Comfort Keepers opened its doors to Plano Texas in April of 2004 and has never looked back. During this time, Comfort Keepers has grown from a locally owned franchise with only an owner and a single caregiver to North Dallas' premier provider of non-medical in home health care. Currently, Comfort Keepers has over 60 caregivers providing around 4000 hours of service monthly having provided over 450,000 hours of service over the last decade. Because Comfort Keepers understands the importance of being able to remain at home no matter where home is, we serve clients anywhere in the North Dallas Metroplex. From Plano to Royse City, Comfort Keepers wants to do our part. 1) Personal Care Services

Bathing, Grooming and Hygiene

Comfort Keepers help clients look and feel their best. These services enhance clients’ mental as well as physical well-being, helping them feel positive about their appearance. Bathing not only cleanses the skin, but goes deeper to refresh the spirit, provide relaxation and stimulate circulation.

Mobility Assistance

Comfort Keepers assist clients as needed with mobility to help them maintain as active a lifestyle as possible. Being able to get out and about offers both physical and mental health benefits to seniors. Physical health benefits of activity include increased stamina and energy, a strengthened heart, lower blood pressure and improved digestion and sleep. In addition, activity improves mood, releases stress and increases mental alertness.

Transferring and Positioning

Comfort Keepers are trained to move and place clients in correct posture position to promote health and safety and proper functioning of the body's many systems. Proper transferring and positioning from or into beds and chairs eliminate pressure areas on the skin, reduce weakening and stiffening of muscles, and encourage proper breathing, digestion and elimination.

Toileting and Incontinence Care

Comfort Keepers compassionately and sensitively care for seniors and other adults, helping them maintain dignity and self-esteem as they receive help with the activities of daily living. Through this caring approach Comfort Keepers help to lessen clients’ embarrassment associated with the loss of independence related to incontinence and need for toileting assistance.

Feeding and Special Diet

For a number of reasons, adults may need help feeding themselves. This loss of independence can be difficult to accept. Comfort Keepers understand this and make the extra effort to turn mealtime into an enjoyable social time.

In addition, Comfort Keepers help make certain that seniors and other clients stay on prescribed diets to prevent or control a wide variety of medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and osteoporosis. And in general Comfort Keepers enable clients to eat a well balanced diet that provides the energy needed for active living and nutrients for disease prevention, healing and healthful living.

2) Respite Care Services

Comfort Keepers® provides help and support for family caregivers.

Serving as the sole caregiver for a loved one can be a rewarding experience, but it can also be a stressful, demanding responsibility, especially when it is in addition to raising children or working a full-time job. Family caregivers are not alone, though. It is estimated that nearly 44 million Americans (predominately Baby Boomers) regularly care for an elderly relative.

With so many people depending on them, it is crucial that caregivers take the time to care for themselves. No matter how much they love the people they are caring for, caregivers need regular breaks to be their best. That is where Comfort Keepers' respite care, referred to as “short break care� in some countries, can help. We provide professional in-home care for seniors and other adults who require assistance to temporarily relieve caregivers so they can attend to other matters such as the following:

• Run errands

• Spend time shopping

• Meet with a support group

• Make a dentist or doctor appointment

• Enjoy much-deserved alone time

3) End-of-life Care

We can provide comforting, end-of-life care for your loved one and assist the family during this difficult time.

When a family member is diagnosed with limited life expectancy, he or she often has a strong desire to spend the final days in the comfort of home. However, caring for a loved one at the end of life can be emotionally challenging and physically exhausting.

Comfort Keepers® can support you and your loved one by working with a hospice agency or medical provider to fully meet the family’s care needs. We will help care for your loved one and help around the house as well as provide the family with emotional and moral support.

How Comfort Keepers Can Help

Our caregivers are trained in Alzheimer's disease and dementia care and are also trained to implement Comfort Keepers' unique Interactive Caregivingâ„¢ system. With Interactive Caregiving, the Alzheimer's disease and dementia care provider will get to know the senior on a personal level, learning about likes, dislikes and even past events in the senior's life. While developing a relationship with the senior, the caregiver can plan activities that could help the senior simulate mental or physical activities that have been shown to create more lucid thought. The senior and care provider can listen to music together from the senior's favorite era, read an old favorite book or even do memory exercises like looking through family photos or discussing current events.
