We are Mobile Pet Medical Care! We are a mobile veterinary service located in the Boise, Idaho area. We have the experience, equipment and expertise needed to provide high quality medical and surgical care for your pet.

Our "Mobile Unit" is equipped to provide state-of-the-art medical and surgical treatment for your pet right at your doorstep. Our caring doctors and staff will assist you in any way they can to minimize the stress and hassle of taking your pet to the clinic. Dr. Ormond has been in the mobile veterinary business for over 30 years and continues to offer caring and compassionate service for your pet right at your own home.

Many people think that mobile veterinary care is not for them, or that it is too expensive. Everything that can be done in a clinic can be done in our "clinic on wheels" - anything from the yearly check-up to surgery in the separate surgical suite.

Our fees are competitive with other clinics but our front door service is one of a kind. All of this is given to you without the stress of getting your pet to the clinic or sitting in the waiting area with other pets that just make everything much more stressful. Our Staff

Dr. David Ormond, D.V.M., has lived and worked in Boise since 1979. His family consists of nine children and 28 grandchildren. He has practiced veterinary medicine in the Boise area and has operated his own practice since 1979 as Mobile Pet Medical Care service, making house calls for the treatment of dogs and cats.

He spent over three years in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Germany where he served as a public health officer and provided medical and surgical care for military police dogs. He has two Master Degrees from Boise State University with an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction and an M.S. in Instructional and Performance Technology. These degrees are in addition to his D.V.M. received from Washington State University on June 5, 1976 graduating Summa Cum Laude. He enjoys hiking, backpacking, camping, and just learning new skills.

Gayle Ormond is the office manager and veterinary technician. She has worked in the practice for over 31 years. She is a native Idahoan and was raised in Eastern Idaho. She is the mother of nine children and grandmother of 23 grandchildren. She has her B.S. degree from Utah State University in Business Education and Office Administration. She enjoys cooking, traveling and loving her children and grandchildren. She can answer most of your questions and will assist you in anything she can to meet the health care needs of your beloved pet.

Dr. Robert Ormond, D.V.M., Graduated Veterinary School from St. Matthews University on February 12th 2011. Going to school on the Cayman Islands for two and a half years was both a pleasure and a curse. It was a wonderful Caribbean paradise but Robert was stuck in a classroom for a great deal of the time or studying and saw things mostly from the windows. From there He left to do his clinicals at the University of Minnesota where he experienced one of the highest case loads Veterinary schools can offer.

He says that they traded in their bathing suits for snowsuits with that change in weather, but it was worth it for the experience. His wonderful wife, Katie, has been by his side throughout all the schooling and their family has grown from one child (Calli) born before Veterinary school to including two children (Juliana and Trey) who were born on the island. Robert now has 5 children, 4 daughters and 1 son. They are all happy to be back in Boise fulfilling their dream.

FEES: - Our rates are competitive and we offer the convenience of in-home service! It is $25 for the house call and $63 for the exam to get started and for core vaccinations it is an average of $18 each Call or submit an online form for more details and prices. There is a great deal of stress placed on an animal when brought into a clinic. Research has shown this stress response can appear clinically as signs of illness when the animal is otherwise healthy at home. We are a full service Veterinary hospital on wheels. We offer everything from general yearly health checkups to emergency surgery services. We have the capability of overnight care in our fixed facility hospital.

2) Services - Wellness Care

Mobile Pet Medical Care provides a wide range of care for your pet. Typically a wellness visit will include a full physical exam, discussion of how things are with the pet’s behavior and well being, and vaccinations if necessary. Depending on the age or past history of the pet this visit may include blood work, urinalysis (urine tests), fecal exam, and radiographs (x-rays).

We recommend that all patients be seen by their doctor every 6 months to maintain optimum health and wellness. It has been shown that regular preventative care will help to prolong your pet's life. Animals age nearly 7 times faster than we do. As our pets get older the likelihood of disease and health challenges is much higher.

Dental care is an essential part of our preventative health care plan. A dental check up and cleaning are recommended yearly or as needed. Most pets don't have their teeth brushed daily at home so regular dental care is important to maintain optimal health. Ensuring your pet's peak physical health means maintaining their oral health as well.

The greatest part about Mobile Pet Medical Care is that all of this wellness care and more is provided in a state of the art Mobile Clinic. This means that you don’t have to wait in a crowded waiting room with several other pets that may have health issues that could be passed on to your pet.

You don’t have to deal with the stress of getting your pets into the car and to the clinic. You can just relax at home or use the time you would be at the veterinary office to get projects done around the house. Mobile Diagnostic Care - Within the state of the art Mobile Unit we carry all the necessary equipment to treat and diagnose your pet. Blood analyzer, Microscope, and a Portable X-ray unit are a few of the diagnostics equipment that we have with us on the road. This enables us to diagnose what is wrong with your pet’s health and do everything that we can to make sure that they get back to being their happy healthy selves.



SERVICES - Emergency Care

Boise Area Emergency Care - Mobile Pet Medical Care is also available for emergency and after hours care. We are ready when you call to help with whatever emergency you might be dealing with. The best part about calling us is that we will come to you so you won’t have to worry about transporting your sick pet to the nearest 24 hour clinic.

After stabilizing your pet in the mobile unit, we can transport them to our boarding facility and stationary hospital for continued care, where your pet will be under 24 hour supervision.

Emergencies can happen at any time and we are ready to respond to your call when you need us. These are a few examples of emergencies that require immediate attention:

5) Member Plans

At Mobile Pet Medical Care we know that when it comes to your pet Money is not a question but it needs to be a consideration. We know that due to the cost of good healthcare you might have to make decisions that could cut corners on the care of your pet. In an effort to make the care of your pet more affordable, especially when it comes to expensive medical emergency care, we have developed these membership plans.

It is recommended that all animals see a veterinarian every 6 months for at least a physical exam and checkup. This can be difficult and expensive. As a member, this is included so that you can feel better knowing that this important step in the preventative health care needs of your pet is covered by us.

Also, the many other discounts that are given with the routine yearly maintenance of your pet like vaccinations, dental cleaning, nail trim, diagnostic tests, and prescriptions, are given because we know that they are important for your pet's health and don’t want you to have to make a decision to refuse this care because of cost.

NEW MEMBER PLANS

Retail Plan: Cost is $15/month

This plan gives you the client an up to 50% off prescriptions and retail items sold at the clinic through an exclusive contract pricing. This plan also includes a 50% discount on wellness exams and vaccinations. Any additional care is at regular price.

WELLNESS CARE MOBILE / EMERGENCY PLAN: Cost $25/month

This plan includes everything from the Wellness Care Plan, but can be serviced through the mobile clinic with no extra charges. There is also one emergency fee waived per year for an after hours call.

GETTING STARTED - There are two ways to start the plan:

1. At the time of the first exam the owner would pay the full years member fee and start receiving the benefits right away excluding pre-existing conditions. If there is needed care like vaccinations, dental work or routine surgery, the owner would pay for the services needed at regular cost and start paying for the plan monthly or a year in advance for continued service at the members discounts.

2. Start paying just the member fee monthly. Retail benefits start right away, Wellness benefits of free exams and vaccinations will start after 4 months and dental/surgery benefits don’t start for one year after starting the plan with this option.

MULTI-PET DISCOUNT:

There is a multi-pet discount attached to the wellness plans. The first two pets are $20 or $25 each respectively depending on the plan. Then for pets 3 and 4 it is $15 each. After this point if there are more pets in the household they are included automatically.

DISCLOSURE STATEMENTS:


This is not an insurance plan. We do not claim to offer benefits outside of our scope of practice. Some of these limitations include but are not limited to providing hospitalization or 24 hour care of patients. We also reserve the right to not give care if we do not feel we have the proper training or expertise needed for the case.

Cancellation can happen at any time by the consumer. There are no refunds for membership fees or benefits unused while on the plan.
If either the clinic or the client feels there has been abuse of the plans or they feel taken advantage of cancellation of the plan can happen by either party.

Each year at time of renewal the clinic has the option of changing the price or benefits of the plans. Notice will be made to all members of any changes to the plans. Any changes will be sent via mail, email or phone, whichever is preferred by the client. It is the responsibility of the client to update all information with the clinic. It is not the fault of the clinic if there are changes made and the owner is notified yet doesn't receive notification due to not having updated contact information.
