In 1915, Charles Mansfield joined the business to do the embalming and undertaking responsibilities. Mr. Mansfield purchased this part of the business in 1919, and changed the name to Mansfield Funeral Home. The funeral home was moved to its present day location in 1927.
In 1937, Willard "Bill" Mast joined the firm as an embalmer and funeral director. Mr. Mast purchased the business in 1952, thus becoming Mansfield-Mast Funeral Home. In 1957, Willard's son, Walter joined the business and in 1958, Willard's son-in-law, Marlin "Stub" Mock, joined the firm. Both were embalmers and funeral directors that became partners of the business in 1959. The business changed the name to Mast & Mock Funeral Home in 1965.
In 1968, Walter's wife, Nancy, joined the firm as a part-time funeral director. Craig Hoffman joined the business in 1970 as an embalmer and funeral director, and became a partner in 1974. The funeral home suffered a loss on the evening of December 11, 2007, when Don Clevenger died unexpectedly. The name was subsequently changed to Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer in February, 2010.
Sara Underhill joined the firm as an apprentice in December, 2011, and successfully gained her license in June 2012. Hal Hanenkrath retired May 1, 2012. Jeffery R. Strayer joined us as our fourth funeral director and embalmer in January of 2014. 1) Traditional Funeral Service With Visitation And Burial
The most common type of service offered with full services of the funeral home, a day of visitation, formal funeral service following day at funeral home or church, and graveside service at conclusion.
2) Traditional Funeral Service With Two Hours Of Visitation Prior To Service And Burial
Includes everything as service above with the exception of only two hours of visitation prior to the formal service. In this service everything is done on same day.
3) Graveside Funeral Service
This service usually includes the full services of the funeral home, and may or may not include visitation, with the location of the funeral service being at the graveside instead of funeral home or church.
4) Cremation Funeral Service
This service is identical to any of the above services, and may include a day or two hours of visitation, with services being held at funeral home, church, or graveside. In instances of visitation we offer specially made cremation caskets, or have a casket rental for the visitation. In this service the cremation takes place after all services are completed.
5) Direct Cremation
This is the simplest form of disposition, and does not include any visitations with the body present. In this service the cremation takes place before any services are completed. Visitation may still be held for family and friends to gather, memorial services may still be held at the funeral home, church, or graveside.
