Our mission is to assist each patient to achieve their optimum periodontal health, aesthetics and function. We emphasize the treatment of advanced periodontal disease and saving teeth that will last for the rest of their lives. We believe that it is much more cost effective to save our patients teeth, even in cases of advance disease, than resorting to extractions and dental implants..

Dr. Strutz was born in Detroit,MI. His family moved to Leavenworth, KS where he graduated from Immaculata High School. He completed his undergraduate degree at Michigan State University with a B. S. in Zoology. He played Midfield on Michigan State's lacrosse team.

After graduation he served as a Naval Flight office flying as a crew member in various aircraft (RA-5C Vigilante, EA-3B Sky Warrior, and EA-4 Sky Hawk). Dr. Strutz retired from the U. S.Navy Reserves with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

He graduated from the School of Dentistry at the University of Missouri- Kansas City in 1981. Dr. Strutz completed his training in Periodontics from UMKC School of Dentistry in 1983. He has practiced in Shawnee, Kansas since graduation. He had a successful satellite practice in a large group in Manhattan, KS for 15 years. He also served as an Assistant Professor of Dentistry at the UMKC School of Dentisrty.

Dr. Strutz emphasizes the treatment of advanced periodontal disease and is dedicated to saving the teeth of his patients and restoring them to natural function.

He is married to Patricia Strutz and lives in Shawnee, KS. He enjoys aerobic training and weight lifting, cooking, photography, and is a self taught maker of leaded and stained glass windows. Dr. Strutz was also a contestant on the long-running television show,Jeopardy.

1) Diagnostics

Comprehensive periodontal examination, digital radiographs, cancer screening, treatment plan

2) Oral Sedation

Pre Appointment prescriptions which relax the patient and relieve anxiety during the procedures.

3) Scaling And Root Planing

Removal of bacteria and hard deposits on the roots of the teeth in order to reduce inflammation and start the healing process. This is done under local anesthesia (the area being treated will be numb).

4) Osseous Surgery

In severe cases, a surgical procedure to remove seriously infected tissue and get access to diseased bone and tooth roots. It allows the disinfection of the roots and removal of residual calculus (mineralized deposits that cannot be removed any other way).
