Pruning is one of our specialties. We emphasize reducing tip weight to reduce leverage and prevent storm damage as much as possible. It is also important not to over thin the interior of the tree, allowing the limbs to grow in girth (and strength) as they grow in length. Proper pruning not only makes your trees look better, it makes them healthier and safer.

Sometimes trees need to be removed for a wide variety of reasons. We have various methods we can choose from depending on any given situation. Some trees are very simple while others require heavy equipment such as a crane. In any case, we have the experience and skills to do the job efficiently and safely.

4) Subsurface Fertilizing And Watering

Fertilizing is an effective way to ensure that your trees have the nutrition they need to resist diseases and insect attacks. Just like people, proper nutrition is the key to good health. Subsurface fertilizing delivers nutrients into the soil where roots can take them up and incorporate them into the plant structures. We use a combination of a nitrogen based carrier with humic acid, chelated iron, and composted organic matter to boost tree vitality.

Subsurface watering can be very important in maintaining a tree's health, particularly during the winter months when sprinkler systems are turned off and the cold, dry, windy Colorado winters suck the moisture out of the soil and the trees. We recommend that trees get watered about once per month in the winter on days when the ground is not frozen. You can apply surface water yourself, but higher frequency is required to achieve what we can with our injection rig. Of course, if it's one of those rare winters with plenty of moisture, less watering is needed and we keep our eyes out to be sure that we are not providing unnecessary services.

Dave and his crew did an excellant job. It had been 10 years since our last tree pruning and we had lost some large branches over the years. Dave has restored their beauty and then some, I hadn't realized what a difference a true tree artist could make. He gave me lots of great advice on tree care, referrals for some insect problems and removed a brush pile without being asked. It was a pleasure working with such a professional.

Dave and his crew removed an old diseased/dying/dead aspen tree that was fairly close to the house. The tree had three trunks, two of which leaned toward the house. The tree was removed quickly with no danger at any time to the house, nearby trees or the neighbor's yard or house. I'm sure it was not a very challenging job for Dave and crew but we were very happy with the quick, safe and professional job. Thanks.

When I found Dave over eight years ago, I was really looking for someone who would not only do the standard tree trimming, but someone with an eye for aesthetics and beauty. Dave was that and more! Besides being a genuinely nice guy, Dave is reliable, conscientious, knowledgeable, and just darned good at what he does! Like many of you, I had an experience with another tree company that I did NOT wish to repeat. As a result, I put off getting my trees cared for until I could find someone I trusted - a group of people who were true experts in their field. I found what I was looking for in Walker Tree Care. Dave Walker and his crew did an amazing job on all three of the huge trees in my yard. From estimate to final clean-up, I was more than impressed by their knowledge, their work ethic and their attention to detail. They take great pride in their work and you can see how much they really love what they do. I very strongly recommend Walker Tree Care. They really do care and it shows.

Found Dave sorta by accident, but what a happy accident. He's the best. When we first moved in we had HORRIBLE landscapers who didn't have a clue! We planted a nice Locust tree in our front yard - both for shade and for their beautiful shape. We were constantly warned by the landscapers that it was a "drought" tree and not to water it too much. Well, slowly but surely it started dying back and becoming what we called an "art tree". Then because it was weak, several more branches broke in an early snow. Finally, I went with my gut and started really watering the heck out of it, and it started coming back - but the strangest looking thing you ever saw. Over the last 6-8 years Dave has slowly and carefully pruned and shaped, and forced growth where it should be, and it is FINALLY the specimen tree we wanted!! It's healthy and beautiful. This guy really knows his stuff. I've recommended him to lots of people and I've never gotten a negitive comment. He's also a "font of knowledge" about everything trees, and has referrals for the few things he doesn't do. I put my full name on this review, because I'm that sure that you'll not regret this decision.
