Great Cakes! are baked fresh with a wonderful blend of fresh ingredients, flavors and extracts to be one of the most tasteful cakes you have ever had. Our cakes are baked fresh and delivered fresh – never frozen.

Every cake is as special as you are at Great Cakes! We provide an array of theme cakes or simply elegant delights. Beach theme cakes for elegant ocean side weddings are decorated with style using your choice of embellishments from seashells to butterflies and beyond. Classic traditional cakes to modern whimsical cakes are lovely and created with your day in mind.

Grooms cakes can be fun and tasty. We design grooms cakes with your special man in mind. Let us feature a Great Cake! at your rehearsal dinner or alongside the brides cake at the wedding, highlighting your grooms passions, hobbies and desires. We can make it traditional or a humorous fun design.

About Marsha

Each cake Marsha designs is created to reflect the couples desires in taste and design. Marsha enjoys every aspect of the business, from working with the brides to create the perfect look, to the hands-on artistry each cake provides. She believes that the wedding cake must taste great as well as look beautiful. Customer service is a strength so that every bride feels special and is given the attention to be confident in ordering and serving a Great Cake! at her wedding. Marsha wants the cake to be a highlight of the wedding and remembered by all.

Marsha R. Johnson has been designing, baking and decorating cakes before the age of 12. Originally from Midlothian, Va., a suburb of Richmond, Marsha was raised in a southern home with lots of artistic influences. Her first full-time job was a head cake decorator with Ukrops Dots Pastry Shop in Cary Town. Later, her business, The Catery, was the first caterer for by the Virginia Film Commission. In 1985, Marsha and her family moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina where she has resided ever since.

Baking and creating cakes is Marshas passion. After returning home from several years on the mission field in Zimbabwe, Marsha desired to return to do what she loved and she created Great Cakes! in 2004. Within one wedding season, her cake business grew into a full time labor of love.
