Auto Repair Shop in Clanton, Alabama

I was on my way home from a conference in Montgomery and my brake alarm went off. I pulled off in Calera and found Southern Dixie Auto Repair. It was past closing time but the owner, his wife, and another employee were still there. They fixed the problem within a short period of time and then would not allow me to pay them! They were so good to me! I highly recommend this business! I would venture to say that not many people would have been so unbelievably generous! Go see the folks at Southern Dixie Auto Repair! I guarantee they will treat you right!

While moving from Peoria, IL to Port Orange, FL, with a 6' X 12' trailer in tow, my truck developed a grinding noise and a shimmy in the steering. I stopped in Calera, AL and called AAA. They sent another company first, who said the truck was fine and to continue my trip. I didn't make it 20 miles before I couldn't control the steering anymore and barely got on the shoulder of the highway. I called AAA again and told them I was15-20 miles south of Calera on 65 South. This time they sent Southern Dixie Auto Repair, but they gave them the wrong location for me. I sat in the truck for hours before AAA called me back to tell me they'd tow my truck, but not the trailer. I was so mad that I hung up on them and curled up in my truck to sleep. Then Jeff (the owner of Southern Dixie) called to ask me where I was- he had never stopped looking for me. I gave him directions and he found me in no time. He towed me AND my trailer to his shop, diagnosed the problem in 5 minutes- a front wheel bearing had gone out and the wheel was about to fall off! He had me back on the road as soon as the parts store opened in the morning. Reasonable prices, excellent work, and the best service EVER!!! Thanks again Jeff!

We were on our way home to St. Louis on a Sunday afternoon when my car overheated. We called Southern Dixie to see if he could help us out. Not only could Jeff tow us back to his shop, he was able to work on my vehicle once we got back to it. He and his wife opened their waiting room for us while we waited. They even let us borrow a car to go check out the peaches and eat ice cream. Thanks again for the hospitality and great service.

We were on a family vacation in July 2016 when my water pump went out our way home on a Saturday. After checking with the local Ford dealership, which was closing and couldn't help, we had the vehicle towed here and I visited with Jeff, the owner, on the tow ride and I had a great feeling from him right away. Although they were closing in a half-hour, they called, found the correct water pump, had it delivered for a good distance away, and the mechanic stayed more than 3 hours after closing to get us back on the road. He postponed his planned fishing trip to help get me and my family back on the road. They were courteous and honest. When my wife, who was waiting on me at the peach place up the road, spoke with some locals, they all confirmed that Jeff was an honest guy and we had chosen the right place. Also, his price was fair and reasonable. Sorry it took me a few weeks to get this on here, but thanks, thanks, thanks. You saved the day for us. I've never been big on believing these reviews, but the ones on this site are true. Thanks Jeff to you and all your staff. Chuck

Had not 1 but 2 flats on I 65. I Googled tire repair in Clanton & the first hit was for Jeff's shop. It was Sunday morning and even though the shop was closed, Jeff happened to answer. It took AAA well over an hour to show up to tow us in, but Jeff waited for us. Our dog was traveling with us & he was kind enough to let us take her inside out of the heat. Jeff had us back on the road in no time. It is people like Jeff that restore my faith in the goodness of others. A wonderful man with a kind wife and a superior business!!

Sudden flat tire on 65 had us calling for help. They were there in 15 min, towed us in and fixed our existing tire for us. Super friendly driver, nice to our kids. Clean, safe tow. So glad we got a hold of this repair shop. Out in and on our way an hour and a half after calling for help.

Today I was returning to Birmingham after surprising my mother in Mobile on Christmas. I had thought my tires too threadbare for a trip - so bought a new set - and had them installed Christmas eve. On the way home my tire hazard light came on - and said I was losing pressure in my right front tire. I managed to get 10 miles down the road to a Verbena convenience store - where they gave me numbers to call. Southern Dixie was closed, but Jeff was there. He gave me directions and told me to air it up and come on. I did. And I cannot even start to explain how lucky - and grateful - I feel tonight, sitting here at my PC in Birmingham. It WAS a flat - but wasn't the tire! Was a worn out tire valve sensor. He fixed it - then decided he should check all of my tires - and by golly, while he was fixing one, another was losing air! He fixed the second - which honestly, if he hadn't decided he 'should' check them all, I'd have been a mile up I-65 with another flat. My mother asked me if you guys had 'wings'. I told her not. But I'm not so sure. Sign me grateful tonight that I found you and Southern Dixie.

On our way to Florida we broke down on the side of the interstate with traffic backed up because of an accident. Called the first repair shop that came up on my phone. Jeff came and picked up our car and us very quickly. He had our altenator fixed and had us back on the road within a couple of hours. Jeff and his crew were very friendly and helpful. Although it was expensive, we were very pleased with the service.

Myself, wife, son, and my mom were on our way home from visiting/helping my mom getting settled into her new home in Foley, AL. We were all packed up and driving home to Nashville TN, stopped for a bite to eat, and came back to a bad starter in our car. We looked up local repair shops and was quickly directed to Southern Dixie Auto Repair. We called 5 minutes before they closed for the day, and thought we would have to be stranded overnight. But Jeff had us towed to his shop that was luckily only 1 mile away from our breakdown. These guys identified the problem quickly and told us they could fix this for us tonight and get our family back on the road. We were shocked, and incredibly surprised to hear this. Even after closing hours they brought us in the shop lobby and opened everything up just for us as they got to work. Next thing we knew, everything was ready to go and we were on our way home again before the sun went down. We had a bad situation that happened in the right place at the right time. I can tell you now that i will gladly make this trip just to get future work done on my vehicles, because it wasn't about getting a sale, it was about making sure we could get home safe. Southern Dixie Auto Repair is truly in this business to help people in need, and my family truly appreciates their hard work.

We broke down on I 65 on the way to Florida from Chicago on a Sunday afternoon. Surely, no auto repair shop would be open on Sunday. The rest area had a card for Southern Dixie Auto Repair. We called, Jeff answered and even though he was in the middle of a meal on a Sunday, he came right away, towed us to hi shop which was indeed closed but he opened it for us. He then gave us the keys to his car so my wife, me and the family could go get something to eat. Luckily it was only the A/C that caused the problem. Jeff told us to get it fixed when we got home and sent us on our way. Just the charge for the tow and a small amount for his time. A break down couldn't have been better. What a good man Jeff is and Southern Dixie provides true southern hospitality
