Hello ' we are Christopher and David!

Ladybug Shop began as a 'click and mortar' business, started by Dan and
Rhonda Bond. For 9 years they have successfully built the LadyBug Shop into a respected and unique shop here in Milford, DE.

Ladybug Shop has a great history in Milford and is genuinely bound to the city. It is tied into our town's history'after all, it was a second grade class at our local school that had come up with the idea of having a state bug and had petitioned our State Legislature to act on this back in 1973.

In 2012 we began working with Rhonda in preparation to take the reigns of the Ladybug Shop. We have since learned all about the shop ' its customers and how best to serve them. As we begin to move forward in 2013, we are excited about bringing in new product lines, giving the inside of the Ladybug Shop a face lift, and expanding our reach out into the community and online. It is our hope to be more involved with the local community and invite them back into our store.

We are interested, and looking forward, to hearing from you about what you'd like to see here in the store and online -thereby creating a positive shopping experience for you.

Hello - we are Christopher and David !

The LadyBug Shop (LBS) began as a "Click and Mortar" business, started by Dan and Rhonda Bond, For 9 years they have successfully built the LadyBug Shop into a respected and unique shop here in Milford, DE.

The LBS has a great history in Milford and is genuinely bound to the city. It is tied into our towns history-after all, it was a second grade class at our local school that had come up with the idea of having a state bug and had petitioned our State Legislature to act on this back in 1973.

In 2012 we began working with Rhonda in preparation to take the reigns of the LBS. We have since learned all about the shop - its customers and how best to serve them. As we begin to move forward in 2013, we are excited about bringing in new product lines, giving the inside of the LBS a face lift, and expanding our reach out into the community and online. It is our hope to be more involved with the local community and invite them back into our store.

The Delaware State Bug Story

On April 25, 1974, nineteen second graders from the Lulu Ross Elementary School in Milford made Delaware history. After reading in their Weekly Reader about the state bugs from other states, they decided that Delaware should have a state bug also. After much discussion, the class voted for the ladybug. After many months of hard work and campaigning, the second graders and their teacher, Mrs. Mollie Brown-Rust, lobbied state legislators to have the ladybug named as the official Delaware State Bug. Their efforts were successful and the children learned first hand how petitioning and lobbying for a particular cause can result in having a new state law.

This event was the inspiration for the establishment of the LadyBug Shop-a small specialty retail sales shop in downtown Milford, Delaware. And it explains our logo "LadyBug Shop, Located in Historic Downtown Milford, Home of Delaware's State Bug."
