"No Good Deed Goes Unpunished"

"I rarely have a traffic violation. In this case, I was doing a Mitzvah by taking my mother to visit my elderly father in the hospital. Unfortunately, I was more engrossed in fulfilling the Mitzvah, then in obeying all of the traffic laws. Mr. Goldstein did a wonderful job in defending me in court. I plan on being more careful on the road, but it is nice to know that Mr. Goldstein is there to defend us."

Points matter.

Any driver (even out-of-state drivers) who accumulates six points will be billed a $300 Driver Responsibility Assessment, plus $75 for each additional point.

And if you accumulate eleven points (based on date of violation - not conviction), your license will be suspended, or revoked.

In some cases we might obtain a reduction to a non-moving violation, which means no points, and no insurance consequence.

In other cases the reduction may still carry points (fewer), but may not affect your insurance.

The biggest potential area in terms of money is insurance. It's not the points. In New York, points do not affect insurance directly. Insurance companies in New York raise rates because of the type of violation(s) you have.

In most cases we are able to obtain reductions to violations that do not affect insurance rates.

For more difficult situations (such as high speeds or if you already have a bad record) the reductions we obtain on your behalf will result in fewer points and lesser fines than if you just plead guilty.

We also take "last minute" cases so even if your court date is today or very soon, we can help.

In addition, we handle post-conviction cases; even if your driver's license has already been suspended or revoked we are often able to help you. Vacating a conviction, or rescinding/terminating a suspension order can restore your privileges and put you back on the road - legally!

If you speed 3 times you will automatically have your license suspended for a Persistent Violator Penalty.
