Mission Statement
To provide Goffstown quality Home Inspection assistance as a Home Inspector, House Inspection, Property Inspections and Building Inspectors.
Team Engineering meeting your Home Inspection needs since 1993.
John Turner, Professional Engineer (P.E.), realized a boyhood dream in 1993 when he opened the New Hampshire office of the nation’s leading provider of building-related engineering services. For the better part of two decades, John Turner & his team provided quality Engineered Building Inspection & Design services for residential, condominium and commercial clients for most of New Hampshire and parts of Massachusetts.
On April 1, 2012, John and his team emerged to create a new firm named Team Engineering to better reflect the company philosophy of working together with property owners, builders, designers, inspectors, architects and other engineers. Headquartered in Goffstown, NH, Team Engineering practices primarily in New England and has been delivering practical and economical inspection and design solutions to clients every day for nearly 20 years.
1) Engineered Home Inspections
Whether you’re buying, selling, repairing or renovating a home, an Engineered Home Inspection from Team Engineering provides you piece of mind through a thorough understanding of the home’s current condition. Our inspections cover a home’s major systems from the roof to the foundation. Investing in a home will likely be one of the largest financial decisions you’ll ever make – you deserve to know that the home is safe and sound before you make the commitment.
Team Engineering’s Professional Engineers adhere to the highest legal and ethical standards when inspecting homes. As P.E.s, our home inspectors are able to take your home inspection to an advanced level by offering services that other home inspectors cannot, including:
- Estimating the cost of repairs
- Predicting future conditions and failure of systems and components
- Turning on/off any liquid or solid fuel burning devices for closer inspection
- Providing additional engineering services to address any issues discovered during an inspection
Because P.E.s can offer these extra services, not only do we conduct home inspections directly with clients, but we often partner with licensed Home Inspectors to help with additional evaluations.

At Team Engineering, we are often asked to perform inspections to assess causes of damage. What caused the crack in the foundation? Did the roof collapse because of the snow load or because the roof framing was rotted? Did the roofing blow off because of the high wind or because of incorrect installation? Is the mold in the attic a result of the building design or the behavior of the occupants?
Our team of licensed engineers will get to the source of the problem – especially in situations where the answer is not always clear-cut. For example, the mold in the attic could be the result of product failure or incorrect installation of roofing materials. Or it might be the result of improper use of a whole house humidifier.
New England weather can change quite abruptly, which sometimes results in damage to our homes and buildings. Heavy rains can contribute to basement flooding and roof leakage. Ice dams, heavy snow and lightning are all forces of nature that can damage our homes and buildings. The engineers at Team Engineering will determine whether the damage was caused by the storm or as a result of normal aging of the building or home.
The Professional Engineers at Team Engineering will unlock the mysteries of your home or building and identify the true source of the problems for your insurance claims – and make recommendations for repairs to mitigate the recurrence of the problem in the future.
5) Expert Witness
Sizing a beam, researching codes, calculating the reinforcement required for a foundation and inspecting for rot are the easy part of a Building Inspection Engineer’s job. However, being the best construction Expert Witness means that the engineer must be technically competent and skilled in the art of communications.
At Team Engineering, we hone our communication skills on the inspection site and in our report writing to be effective on the witness stand. We are prepared to represent our client’s interests. In some cases, that will be to convince the judge that the contractor had an obligation to build the house a certain way. At another time, it may be to convince the jury that the consumer had unreasonable expectations of their construction project and that the contractor delivered a product that met the requirements established by the Building Codes and the normal, customary practice of the industry.
The thorough inspection of a property by an Engineer involves meticulous site work – accessing every aspect of the property from the building envelope to the depths of the crawl space – in order to uncover the clues to the quality of construction and materials used. Now add to this picture a host of people in attendance at many of our inspections, each with his or her own focus and questions.
The cast may include the buyer’s agent, the buyer, relatives of the buyer, contractors providing estimates or opinions, the home/building owner or seller, the seller’s agent, family members, the buyer’s kids, septic inspectors, etc. In addition to needing crowd control, the engineer must be able to understand and communicate appropriately with each individual to address all questions and concerns. This daily practice in our inspection business is great training for the courtroom setting in expert cases.
As Expert Witnesses, the engineers at Team Engineering present their opinions with enthusiasm. Well qualified and informed, we clearly communicate our client’s case. On occasion, we even receive calls from an attorney we opposed in a previous case, asking us to work with them in their next case!
Being a talented engineer is necessary, to be sure, but being an engineer that communicates well and knows how to sell is critical to successful inspections and expert projects. Let Team Engineering help you on your next construction case.
