History

The Jordan family began Rambling Pines Day Camp way back in 1976. Dr. Sydney Jordan and his wife, Roslyn, had been searching for a new site for a camp and a school, but couldn not seem to find exactly what they were looking for. (Dr. and Mrs. Jordan had run Jordan Day School since 1972, and Dr. Jordan was a professor of special education at Trenton State College.)

They knew they had found the perfect spot when they set eyes on 15 acres with a house, a pond and a babbling brook nestled in the Sourland Mountains.

With their sons Edward (age 14) and Robert (age 13) they quickly set to work transforming the new site into Rambling Pines – developing the facility and program you see today. The few short months before the summer of 1976 saw the installation of 4 classrooms, two pools, a tennis court and a sports field.

That summer began with under 25 campers and a dozen staff. Things grew quickly from there! The purchase of the former neighboring Camp Harmony in 1977 increased the campgrounds to a sprawling 225 acres. 1979 saw the beginning of construction on our Gymnasium and Classroom building, vastly increasing our indoor space.

Other changes would follow over the years, additional sports courts, sports fields, pools. More campers joined us, and more staff, too.

Today, we are planning our 38th season, offering more programs than ever! With new families joining us and old friends returning, we're looking forward to many more years and many more chapters in Rambling Pines history.

Staff

Your child’s happiness and safety are our primary responsibilities – responsibilities we could not possbly take on without our excellent staff. Our Division Leaders and Head Staff are mature professionals with years of teaching and camping experience. They supervise our Group Counselors and Specialty Staff who are teachers, parents, or highly trained college students, as well as our Jr. Counselors who are High School Juniors and Seniors.

All are energetic and nurturing people dedicated to the enrichment of children. In the structured and time-proven environment at Rambling Pines, your child will play and learn with these positive role models who take time to listen, to talk, to encourage, to understand and to give personal attention to your child.

Rambling Pines also has a full-time nurse onsite to address the occasional illness, scrape or bug bite, and to administer any medications your child may need during the day.

The staff is led by Owner/Directors Roslyn Jordan, Robert Jordan, and Dianne Jordan.

Each of us is committed to helping your child grow and learn in the fun and safe environment at Rambling Pines.
