Jessica A. Smith, Esq. started this firm in November 2011. She regularly represents individiuals and children in all areas of law in the Family and Probate Divisions of the Vermont Superior Court. She has experience in divorce mediation, and parent coordination. She has experience in drafting wills and trusts, and other estate planning documents for clients. She has represented individuals in the creation of guardianships for elders and for children. She regularly teaches the pro se education class at the Bennington Superior Court, Family Division.

Ms. Smith is a graduate of Vermont Law School and the University of Maine. Ms. Smith received the Who's Who in American Law Students national award for Outstanding Student of the Year in recognition of her work helping victims of domestic violence. In August 2007, she was awarded the Bennington County Bar Association's Glen Remington Award for her service to the Bennington Family Division on behalf of children.

Prior to creating this firm, Jessica was a senior associate attorney at Barr, Sternberg, Moss, Lawrence and Silver, where her focus was in family law, litigation, and estate planning. She assisted many clients in this position in simple and complex family transitions. Prior to working at Barr Sternberg, Jessica was the director and staff attorney for the Bennnington County Have Justice Will Travel Office. In that capacity, she provided free legal assistance and representation to hundreds of women and children in Divorce, Child Support, Child Custody and Visitation, Parentage and Relief from Abuse matters.

Jessica is admitted to practice in the State of Vermont, and the Federal District Court of Vermont. She is a member of the Vermont Bar Association, and the Bennington County Bar Association. Jessica also serves as a board member for the United Children's Board in Bennington.
