The American Hotel was built in 1855 by the Central Virginia Railroad Company, in the Wharf area of Staunton Virginia. The Hotel offered the ultimate in convenience for their eager passengers. Now the American Hotel offers much more as a Virginia banquet hall and rehearsal dinner site perfect for your Virginia wedding or business meeting.

The American Hotel is located at 125 South Augusta Street, Staunton, Virginia, directly across from the historic train station in the downtown Wharf area. Staunton is within thirty minutes of Charlottesville, Virginia or Harrisonburg, Virginia, all near the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

In 2003 Emerald City L.P transformed the building into offices, retail space, restaurant space, and the Banquet Room. The American Hotel now has a multi-door elevator for each floor along with other health and safety upgrades to the building. A two story parking garage was built during the renovation process with access to the top parking deck from Augusta Street and the train station. The lower parking deck is accessed via Mill Street or New Street.

The American Hotel Banquet Room is kept in the style and era of the 1850â€™s Grand Ball Room. The Banquet Room staff will work with your Wedding Professional, Caterer, and other members of your wedding team, offering you the Ceremony, Reception, Rehearsal Dinner or any combination you require. Weddings and Things Catering is located on premises, however you are welcome to provide any caterer or catering you like. Let the Banquet Room provide the setting of your dreams for your special day.
The American Hotel is now home to Professional offices, Cafe and the Grand Banquet Room.

The Grand Banquet Room is available for Wedding Receptions, Ceremonies, Rehearsal Dinners, Anniversaries, Civic Events, Meetings, Family Reunions, Partyâ€™s, and much more.

All caterers are welcome.

At The American Hotel Banquet Room we aspire to offer the Virginia wedding of your dreams in a straightforward and elegant style that you desire. Our Virginia banquet hall is located in the heart of the historic downtown wharf area of Staunton Virginia, thirty minutes west of Charlottesville, and thirty minutes South of Harrisonburg, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Offering an inviting atmosphere, our mid 19th century graceful design features dramatic chandelier lighting with exquisite hardwood floors, and rustic decor that was recently renovated. The Banquet Room hosts a year round uniquely beautiful site for rehearsal dinners, weddings, receptions, anniversaries, engagement parties, bridal showers, civic events, family reunions and business events.

We believe every wedding should be as unique as the happy couple with whom we celebrate. Bride and Groom may enter from our cobblestone grand entrance. The American Hotel Banquet Room provides numerous indoor and outdoor photographic sites including sites related to the historic Staunton Train Station.

We have room for a seated reception accommodating 200 with additional room for a bar, candy bar, cake table, gift table, dance floor, along with space for your band or DJ. Ample parking exists around The American Hotel along with additional parking in our two story garage. Caterers enjoy the use of our large prep room, counter space, and a shelved cooler. You may use any Caterer of your choice.

For all Weddings, Parties, Fund Raisers, and Large Events on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, we do not limit your use of The Banquet Room to a four hour or five hour block of time, The Banquet Room is available at 9:00 am until midnight that evening. On Holidays and some Special Events The Banquet Room is available for a later time.

The Banquet Room provides a variety of affordable packages for your special event. Small to large, beautifully simple to extravagantly elegant, The Banquet Room is ideal for a traditional or themed wedding. The Banquet Room provides a lovely setting, unparalleled customer service, and exceptional attention to detail at an extraordinary modest price.

Additionally, The American Hotel Banquet room offers space for meetings and other events of various sizes from 10 to 200 people. We offer extremely affordable rates and additional discounts for midweek events. Weddings and Things Catering is available on premises, however we are willing to work with your caterer.
